It’s 25 years since PaintShop Pro was released as shareware by Jasc Software, and Corel Corporation is celebrating the occasion with the release of Corel PaintShop Pro X8 ($99).
Lens correction tools are a long-awaited addition, automatically fixing distortions, vignetting and other common lens-related issues.
“Magic Move” is a content-aware tool which automatically fills the hole left when you’ve moved an object or selection, hopefully matching the surrounding background.

There are major performance boosts for brushes (40%-120%), Smart Edge (up to 50%) and when saving files in the native .pspimage format (up to 50%).
Smarter text handling means you’re now able to fill a selection or vector shape with text that automatically wraps within it.
You also get more selection and layer options, preview of cut shapes and gradients, brush sizes of up to 3000 pixels, and more batch processing features, while 4K display support means it looks better than ever.
Corel PaintShop Pro X8 is available for $99 ($79.99 upgrade) and the 30-day trial runs on Windows 7 and later.
